What happens when you get promoted and you're not a PM anymore...?

A crisis of professional identity can be an opportunity for growth. Here's what I did..

I have recently had to go through a professional identity crisis.

I had been a PM for so long and loved the work.

The daily challenges, the near-constant need to learn new skills, and the solving of interesting problems are what made me excited to go to work every day.

However, if you do a great job as a PM, opportunities for growth open up.

That’s what happened to me over the last 75 days.

My 9-to-5 asked me to move to a role where I manage our customer relationships in the Western half of the US, which includes 15 States and about 2 million square miles.

But that meant I’d have to move on from a PM role. And move to Nevada.

I do have a crazy great view from my apartment!

After careful consideration, I accepted.

But how could I continue this newsletter (a passion project) if I wasn’t a PM?

Well, after a pause and thinking about my mission in writing this newsletter, I’ve changed the name of the AI PMO to The CAIO (The Chief AI Officer).

And that’s the goal I hope to achieve.

To help you align your organization’s AI strategy and goals to meet your organization's needs within your existing framework.

I appreciate your coming on this journey with me. I’ll continue to write about where I believe the future of AI in the workplace is going.
