HI THERE, ED HERE

You might remember an episode of South Park where a group of Gnomes devised a “plan” to profit by stealing underpants.

Stay with me here. I promise to explain how this applies to AI for project managers in a minute.

The plan was laid out by the gnomes as follows:

Phase 1 - Steal Underpants
Phase 2 - ?
Phase 3 - Profit

This is similar to the action plan I often see when researching AI for project management on LinkedIn and elsewhere.

Today is the start of a 3 part series with answers to Phase 2!

I’m as guilty as the next guy on this trend of glossing over Phase 2.

Talking about how AI will revolutionize [X] industry, then leave the person on the other side of the screen holding a bag of “future dust” and a pile of work that still needs to get done.

It’s frustrating to me too!

Generally, the AI industry seems to have skipped Phase 2 when offering “solutions” to people who do real, day-to-day work.

I have grown tired of waiting for Google and Microsoft to help me manage projects.

SO, recently, I started using Make.com to build out real-world project management tools for myself.

And I’m going to take you on that journey with me.

I'll also share (for FREE) all of the tools I build for myself with you, a similarly frustrated project manager.

Now, to the basics of the first build I’m working on:

Tool: AI Post-mortem Generator
Purpose: Create an edit-ready draft of a post-mortem report from project-related documentation and spreadsheets.

Here’s How the Tool Works:

  1. All relevant project-related documents are stored in a Google Drive folder.

  2. A text parser normalizes the information into something an LLM can use to create a report.

  3. Using a series of AI Agents, each with a specific task, each utilizes the data to create their portion of the report (e.g., An Agent specializing in budget analysis, another specializing in Stakeholder sentiment, etc.)

  4. A pause in the automation occurs for human editing and verification.

  5. Those report sections are combined into a final PDF ready for distribution to Stakeholders.

Don’t worry; the tool will have a sleek UI for the end user. I haven’t gotten that far yet!

I will build out this tool for the next few weeks (sharing every step!), learn more about no-code app builders, and share my findings with you.

I can’t wait to get this tool in your hands!

OK, I have to get back to building in public.

Let’s learn together.
